Like many other companies, we’re on a sustainability journey – committed to making the best choices for the environment at an individual and company level and figuring out how to do this.
We already work in the plant based sector – that’s a great start!
We know that eating less meat, fish and dairy products is one of the biggest ways to reduce our environmental impact on the planet. By helping to make plant based alternatives more appealing and more accessible, we are contributing to a more sustainable future.
We firmly believe that if enough people make small, manageable changes – the results will be big! Within our office, where we are in control, we take small steps every day to reduce our impact on the environment:
Restrict travel, especially non-domestic
Reduce printing to essential only
Lower our heating a little and bundle up
Avoid single use items by carrying our own re-useable water bottles
Turn off all lights and appliances when not in use
Recycle food via a composter and recycle plastic waste
We donate supplies of our canned fruit and vegetable products with a short shelf-life to charities committed to reducing food poverty and food waste
We look for opportunities to support sustainability initiatives – we are certified as conforming to the MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) Chain of Custody Standard
On a bigger scale, we are working on developing our sustainability goals and a sustainability policy for the future:
As an agent and broker, a big part of this is understanding what is realistically within our power to change – this is where we are now.
We have already started very important conversations with our suppliers, asking key questions with regards to their sustainability practices.
Ultimately, our goal is to work with suppliers and customers who share our commitment to protecting the planet. This is what will define the steps of our sustainability journey.
